Chinese11/11/2009 保羅在耶路撒冷被捕English

11/11/2009 Paul's Arrest in Jerusalem
Scriptures:Acts 21-23
Heart of the Passage:Acts 21
Overview

Though Paul has taken his last missionary jour¬ney, his missionary career is far from over. God now promotes him from being a missionary to the people to being a missionary to the palace. Paul travels to Jerusalem, prepared for imprison¬ment and even martyrdom. Once before the crowd and again before the council, Paul attempts to defend himself by relating his personal testimony. Narrowly averting an assassination plot, he awaits his opportunity to stand trial for "the hope and resurrection of the dead" (23:6).

Your Daily Walk

A gunman sneaks up behind the unsuspecting victim and loudly announces, "You'd better get ready to liver!"
Oops! Something's wrong here—isn't the victim supposed to get ready to die? But stop and think: Which would be tougher to do in this challenging 21st century?
The apostle Paul was ready for both. He believed that a faith worth living for was also a faith worth dying for. As he proceeded to Jerusalem from Caesarea, Paul was well aware of the dangers he faced. But even the prophets of death did not deter him. His parting words were a ringing declaration that he was ready to live or die (21:13).
For you, the most difficult decision you will ever face may not come at the point of a gun. You may never be threatened by a jail sentence. More likely, you will face situations where you wish you could "die" but can't. Situations that wound your emotions so deeply you think it is impossible to recover. Situations involving confrontation, discipline, repentance, and forgiveness, But that's where your living faith in Christ can shine most brightly! When tempted to run from your problem today, run instead to your heavenly Father and ask Him for a living victory—the kind He specializes in giving!

Insight

When in Jerusalem, Do as the Romans Do. ... —
Paul's affirmative reply to the chief captain's ques¬tion, "Art thou a Roman?" (22:27), saved him from a scourging, and frightened the captain, who could have been whipped or executed himself for beating a fellow Roman citizen—a direct violation of Roman law!

Adage

If you haven't got problems, perhaps you should get on your knees and ask, "Lord, don't You trust me?"
