        John describes an amazing series of visions depicting activities in heaven and on earth. God, majestically enthroned, holds a scroll written on both sides and sealed with seven seals. No one is found worthy to break the seals and reveal the contents of the scroll except the Lion of Judah. As the first six seals are broken, calamities break forth upon the earth involving warfare, famine, death, earthquakes, and heavenly disturbances. The kings of the earth know only too well the explanation of it all: "For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" (6:17).

        Here is a question worthy of your consideration: In your estimation, how worthy is Jesus Christ?
        Is He worthy of your unquestioning obedience, even when the whys and whens of His will aren't readily apparent?
        Is He worthy of your worship, affection, and devotion?
        Is He worthy of your trust that, as your loving Savior. He wants the best for your life?
        Three times in chapters 4 and 5 the elders and angels proclaim to the Lamb of God, "Thou an worthy" (4:11; 5:9, 12). And you can join their chorus of praise today.
        Use this sentence to verbalize the desire of your heart: "With God's help, today I will show the world the worthiness of my Savior by _____________." Whatever action you consider, you can count on this: He is worthy!
