在今天的經文中，阿摩司繼續嚴責以色列，並向倚靠金錢、家世、象牙床及安逸生活等偏差安全感的人提出挑戰，只有財物並不能給人安全感。為了表明這個觀念，先知在異象中看到蝗蟲為害、天火降災及準繩定罪，雖然上帝保留了前面兩個審判，但是以色列遠遠的落在上帝公義的標準之後，乃是不爭的事實。上帝耽延日久的懲罰不能再延誤了!

        今天的中心思想：在你的心專注於某件事物之前，先看看擁有它的人是否快樂？
        如果你希望你與上帝的關係像一個快速上升的氣壓計，那看看你對事物的態度如何，是你擁有它們，還是它們擁有你？你是否滿足於現有的一切，還是覬覦別人的所有？你是否熱愛世人、善用物質，還是憤世嫉俗、浪費揮霍？
        以色列享有許多從上帝而來的祝福，以致物資豐富，但他們卻不願相信這位擁有他們的上帝，而到他們所擁有的物質裡去尋求安全感，正因以色列人錯置了自己的愛，上帝才宣佈要挪走祂的百姓與他們的財富!
        舉出三個你最珍愛的物質產業：1.__________；2.__________；3.__________；當中那一個最令你牽腸掛肚、念念不忘？(圈選一個)現在感謝上帝給你這賞賜，然後誠心的獻上自己，將每一種賞賜的主權都交還祂，將來你會以自己的生命和話語證明：只有在祂裡面才能找到安全!

演出「跟隨領袖」的悲劇
        眾領袖「在錫安安逸」(摩6：7)的悲劇是他們繼續自我中心、揮霍無度的生活方式，使毀滅臨到他們的時候，完全孤立無援，所以阿摩司警告這些領袖，不久就要率先走入淒慘的被擄行列(摩6：7)。

一件事物的真正價值端視它能否帶進永恆。

        Continuing his reprimand of Israel, Amos challenges those who have developed 3 false sense of security in their money, homes, beds of ivory, and lives of leisure. But possessions alone can never bring security. To picture this, the prophet visualizes a locust swarm, a devastating fire, and a plumb line. Though the first two judgments are stayed by God, there is no escaping the fact that the nation has drifted far from God's righteous standards. God's long-postponed punishment can be delayed no longer.

        Thought for the day: Before you set your heart on something, look around to see how happy it has made those who have it.
        If you want a quick barometer of your relationship to God, look at your attitude toward things. Do you possess them, or do they possess you? Do you find yourself content with what you have, or covetous of what others have? Do you love people and use things, or vice versa?
        The Israelites enjoyed many material blessings from God. But rather than putting (heir trust in the One who owned them, the people looked for security in the things they owned. Because of the nation's misplaced affections, God declared He would remove both His people and their possessions.
        What three material possessions do you prize above all others? 1, __________ 2. __________ 3. __________ Which of the three comes closest to possessing you? (Circle one.) Thank God for the blessings He has entrusted to you. Then in an act of prayerful commitment, transfer the ownership of each one back to Him, You'll be saying by your life, as well as your lips, that you are finding your security in Him alone.

Playing "Follow the Leaders" —
        The tragedy of those leaders who were at "ease in Zion" (6:1) was that they continued in their self-centered, extravagant lifestyles, totally insulated from the ruin that was overtaking their country. Amos warns that those same leaders would later lead the pitiful columns of exiles going off into captivity (6:7).

The real value of a thing is the price it will bring in eternity.
