Key Verse: | "[God] has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they."(Hebrews 1:2-4) |
Overview
Instead of adding much comment to the above key verse(s), allow me to add two other passages from Hebrews:
"Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (4:14-16).
"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" (12:1,2).
In my opinion, these three passages effectively summarize the essential message of the book of Hebrews. Spend time in this book. It's full of solid meat — it'll make you strong.
As you do, don't forget that "without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (11:6).

Prayer
Thank 'You, Father God, that You have spoken to us by Your Son. Help us to listen to Him more and more, meditating on His words in the Gospels and thinking deeply about the truths of Him we find in the book of Hebrews. |
